Goodbye Hawaii

Since I haven't really kept everyone as up to date as I should have on my life here in Hawaii I will begin my travel blog with a couple pictures from Hawaii. I am both sad to leave this paradise and all the great friends that I have made here, and excited to begin my next journey. I have had many incredible experiences over the last year and will never forget what I have learned here. I think the only way to summarize them is to pull a "Catherine" and make a list.

Canoeing - I learned that I could push myself way harder than I ever thought I could, even when I thought I might pass out, and also that a sport can be competitive, religious, cultural, social, beautiful and physical all at the same time.

-Hiking - I learned that my favourite hikes involve adrenaline -whether it's from the steep drop off on either side of you, or from running from the law on a closed trail. (shhhh!) Of course scenic views, waterfalls, rainforests, whale watching and lava don't hurt either.

-Work - I learned that my job is more about psychology than anything else, and I learned a lot about Hawaiian, Japanese, Philipino, Vietnemese, Thai etc. culture. Finally, I learned how to leave the stresses of work at work. (thank god for that one)

-Relationships - I learned that relationships come and go but there are some that you should hang on to and some that you should let go of. I have been so lucky to share my time here with some awesome new friends. Also, thanks to everyone who came to visit and explored this great island with me, and I hope I can catch up with those who couldn't make it out here sometime soon.
-Family -the further away you are from them, the more important you realise they are. There's no feeling like that of sitting around the dinner table chatting and laughing with family.
Okay, I think I'm getting a little too mushy, I better stop there. Goodbye Hawaii, hello Asia!
